Learning to Love Yourself

Hearty Eating
Our greatest saboteur to weight loss and being healthy is ourselves. Many people who are overweight will, at some point, not feel very good about themselves. Whether it was a root cause of overeating or the end result of being obese or overweight, being unhappy with your appearance can threaten any hope to losing the extra weight you hate so much.

To be honest, no one is perfect and there are things we would all like to change about ourselves. While there is always room for improvement, we have to learn to recognize those things which are positive and make us who we are. Without this type of approach, effective weight loss is almost impossible.

You have to really take a look at yourself and discover your positive attributes. You may have been focusing so hard on the things you don’t like about yourself that you’ve forgotten about all of your good points. Feeling bad about how you look will only make you feel worse until you eventually give up on ever changing your appearance.

You have to learn to love yourself no matter how you look. Once you get to the point of loving and accepting yourself, losing the weight you want to or need to lose depending on how overweight you may be, will be much easier. You will discover an inner strength you never knew you had. Sit down and think about all your good points. Write them down so you can look at the list when you are feeling low. This will help to get past down times. Repeat them out loud as many times as is necessary to believe them.

Give yourself small daily goals you can easily accomplish and be happy when you accomplish your tasks. Giving yourself a nice pat on the back can go a long way to improving your self-esteem and making your weight loss experiences more enjoyable, easier and much more effective.
