Metabolism - How to Keep it Up Throughout the Day

If you have taken the BMI, Body to Mass Index test, then you have an idea how overweight you are. Many of us mistakenly think by not eating we can lose those extra pounds. Plain and simple, it doesn’t really work that way at all. When you don’t eat your body will consume energy from cells in the body, yes. The thing is, the fat cells aren’t the first to be attacked. Instead your body goes after the muscular cells.
Knowing we have to eat to survive, how can you keep eating and still lose weight? You have to eat in a way that stimulates your metabolism and keep it relatively high. This burns more calories during the day than you bring in through food. The best way to accomplish this is a two pronged attack and here’s one way to do it.
The first thing you must do is eat a healthy breakfast in the morning. This simple act will get the metabolism going early in the day. It is ok at this meal to eat some carbohydrates since you will burn them off throughout your day.
When you eat lunch, the idea is to cut back on the carbohydrates otherwise you are looking at the mid-day slump attack. This is where your head feels like it could hit the desk around 3 p.m. Stick with eating more veggies and proteins to keep the metabolism up and burning. This will provide you a boost in energy to get you through the afternoon sleepiness.
Between meals eat a healthy snack such as an apple, pear or banana to help curb your hunger and keep your metabolism up. A person should eat 3 regular meals and then 2 small snacks throughout the day. Make sure you are eating every 3 hours. At dinner time, consume very little carbohydrates and a lot of protein and veggies. Your metabolism will still be burning away for you, but you won’t be depositing carbohydrates as sugar while you sleep.
Eating healthy meals throughout the day will keep your metabolism revved up and you’ll end up burning off more calories than you take in. The calorie burning will promote healthy weight loss and lead to a better overall lifestyle.
