Adolescent rhinoplasty is the most common surgery done on a teen of America. The procedure doesn’t require admission as an inpatient. You go in as an outpatient and undergo the procedure and come back home the same day.
A nose job for a doctor sometimes can be very simple and sometimes can turn out to be a complex procedure. When an experienced surgeon does the procedure, it is going to make a difference in the look of the person undergoing the procedure.
What is the age when a teen can undergo rhinoplasty?
Teens should wait till the adult age of their nose, i.e., 15 or 16 years of age for girls. Boys take an extra one year.
Some different types of rhinoplasty:
Hump is removed from the nose
Reshaping of the tip of the nose
Nostrils size decreasing or increasing
Nose correction after an injury
Breathing passages opening
Making bigger or smaller nose
Nose surgery changes the look of your nose for medical reasons. As an example, one person can undergo rhinoplasty if they want to make corrections to the cartilage that divides both the nostrils. Another person might just want his nose to look a bit longer.
Every surgery has their own risks, mostly allergic reaction to anesthesia, infection, and bleeding. Including these, there are also some other risks for nose corrections:
Permanent damage of nerve
The base of the nose scarring
On the skin’s surface small blood vessels bursts
Need for a second or third operation
You should remember before a teen goes for rhinoplasty, they need to take their parents or guardians to the surgeon and talk with them extensively and weigh the risks and benefits. For the success of surgery, an honest opinion between you, your parents or guardians and the surgeon are necessary.
