Many people have been adopting alkaline water in the diet for its supposed health benefits. However, the balance between acidity and alkalinity in the body depends on several factors. Worrying about pH, acids and bases seems necessary only in chemistry classes. However, these concepts can be useful in everyday life as health allies, especially in food. Excessive consumption of foods with an acidic effect on the body is able to increase acidity in the body. This condition is conducive to the development of problems, from heartburn to degenerative diseases. The alternative is to adopt a diet that prioritizes more alkaline foods, such as fruits and vegetables.
And even the water deserves attention
The water currently consumed tends to be more acidic, due to the industrialization and treatment process, with the addition of chlorine and fluorine. Looking for more alkaline water options can contribute to health. Today, one of the common ways to alkalize water is with the use of special alkaline water filter. How to identify
Fruits: (such as lemon, pineapple and orange), vegetables, legumes, sea salt (rich in minerals).
Acids: meats, dairy products (cheese, margarine, yogurt etc.), pasta, soda, flour, sugars and refined salts, coffee, industrialized foods in general (with excess of preservatives and dyes).
Acidity is not related to the taste of food, but to the effect inside the body. The lemon has an acidic flavor, but it is one of the most potent fruits to alkalize the body. The pH measures the concentration of hydrogen ions (the so-called hydrogen potential). Acids are those with H + and basic (alkaline) ions with OH-.
