The body retains water weight when there is excess of water accumulated in the body. Usually, too much of water retention is caused through a bad diet and lack of enough exercise, although at times, the causes may be medical as well. The retention may even be created through dehydration with the body trying to hook on to the additional water. Irrespective of the causes of the retention, water weight may make a person feel bloated or swollen, making them feel uncomfortable in clothing. Water retention can be dealt with in a number of ways:
Reduce the Intake of Salt: Salt leads to dehydration and prompts the body to look for moisture to hold on to. If you move on to a diet which has low sodium, you can switch to choosing healthy foods as well as eliminate the effects of water retention. Reducing your intake of sugar also leads to a fall of high levels of insulin. This eliminates extra sodium.
Respiration and Transpiration: The body can lose its water weight through respiration and transpiration that are enhanced by regular exercise. The body is said to lose some of its water each time upon exhalation. Transpiration takes place when the body sweats out the water and sodium, after hectic activity. Once a healthy regimen of exercise is maintained, the dual modes of respiration and transpiration can be increased for preventing water retention. It is best to walk for 30 minutes each day 5 times a week to help the body move lucidly for water weight loss.
Drink Water: While drinking water causes temporary gaining of weight, do not give up on it to reduce water retention. The substance is extremely vital for the body as it hydrates the organs and eliminates toxins and wastes from the body. Dehydration creates a crisis and leads to excess retention.
Swim: According to some experts, swimming is ideal for weight loss. It not only acts as a form of exercise, but the water pressure forces water outside the tissues of the body, allowing water to be eliminated through urination. However, you should always drink extra water after a strenuous or long swim since salt or chlorine in the pool may lead to dehydration.
Proper Nutrition: Inefficient nutrition may cause water retention. This is why you should consume foods that are rich in amino acids, proteins and potassium which enhance the water level of the body. With proper nutrition, you can not only improve your health on the whole, but reduce the water weight too.
Foods: Some natural foods or herbs help the body in eliminating additional water. Green tea and dandelion roots act as natural diuretics, although everyone might not like their taste. You can increase water elimination successfully by adding unsweetened cranberry juice or pure lemon juice to each glass of water that you drink. These excellently replace flavored drinks makes the water colder, refreshing and helps stop water retention.
Water weight is unlike fat and this is perhaps why you can get rid of it easily by following the above strategies.
